2-Ingredient Dough Garlic Knots
These garlic knots replicate a restaurant favourite using a remarkably simple dough base of just two ingredients. The soft, knotted bread is brushed with a savoury garlic butter before baking until golden. They make an excellent side dish, particularly when paired with pasta, and can be prepared and on the table in about 25 minutes. The recipe yields 8 delicious knots.
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups self-rising flour, plus more for kneading
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 0.5 cup butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 0.5 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley, plus more for garnish
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
Method
- In a medium bowl, combine the self-rising flour and Greek yogurt, stirring until a rough, shaggy dough comes together. Turn this out onto a floured surface and knead the dough for 8 to 10 minutes, incorporating extra flour if it feels sticky.
- Heat your oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with a sheet of parchment paper.
- Stir together the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and salt in a small bowl to create the garlic butter.
- Divide the prepared dough into 8 equal portions, each about 2 ounces. Roll every piece into a smooth 12-inch rope. To form a knot, create a cross shape with the rope, loop the top section under the bottom, then join and pinch the ends together securely.
- Arrange the shaped knots on your lined baking sheet. Generously coat each one with the prepared garlic butter mixture using a pastry brush.
- Place the sheet in the hot oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the knots have a light golden colour. Immediately after baking, brush them with any leftover garlic butter, sprinkle with extra parsley, and serve while still warm.
