15 Minutes Oatmeal (Rice Cooker)
This is a personal recipe for preparing oatmeal using a rice cooker, which requires only a quarter of an hour. It combines quick oats with milk, water, and flavourings like vanilla, sugar, and honey, along with a selection of dried fruits. The entire process is hands-off once the ingredients are combined in the cooker. It yields a warm, comforting breakfast suitable for one or two people.
Ingredients
- 1 cup quick oats (can be substituted with steel-cut oats but cooking time will be slightly longer)
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup milk
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 5 tablespoons of your desired dried fruits (raisins, sultanas, apricots, dates)
Method
- Combine every listed ingredient inside the bowl of your rice cooker.
- Give everything a good mix to combine.
- Switch on the rice cooker to begin cooking.
- Allow it to cook for around 15 minutes, though it may be ready in approximately 10 minutes.
- Dish up the oatmeal while it is still warm.
