15 Minute Smoked Sausage Jambalaya
This speedy jambalaya delivers big flavour in minimal time. Smoked sausage is sauteed with a classic trio of onion, green pepper, and celery, then combined with tomatoes and instant rice. A dash of hot sauce adds a gentle kick, creating a hearty and satisfying one-pan dish perfect for a weeknight dinner. It yields 4 to 6 generous portions.
Ingredients
- 1 cup instant rice
- 1 lb hillshire farm smoked sausage or 1 lb polska kielbasa, cut into 2 in. pieces
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 1/2 cups chopped green peppers
- 1/2 cup sliced celery
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomatoes
- 4 drops hot pepper sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- Pam cooking spray, butter favor
Method
- Prepare the instant rice following the instructions on its packet.
- As the rice cooks, apply a coating of butter flavour Pam to a large skillet as directed on the can.
- Place the skillet on the heat. Introduce the sausage pieces, chopped onion, green pepper, and celery. Saute the contents until the vegetables have softened.
- Mix in the canned tomatoes, hot pepper sauce, and ground pepper. Drain the cooked rice and fold it into the sausage and vegetable mixture.
- Continue to cook the jambalaya, stirring often, until everything is piping hot throughout. This recipe makes 4 to 6 servings.
