15-Minute Honey-Mustard Salmon
This recipe delivers a flavourful salmon fillet with a glossy honey-mustard coating, cooked under the broiler until perfectly tender. It's a swift American dinner or entree that requires minimal prep and cooks in under a quarter of an hour, serving six people. The combination of mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and maple syrup creates a rich, caramelised glaze on the fish.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup (60g) mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons (30g) Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon (15g) pure maple syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 2 pounds boneless center-cut salmon fillet
Method
- Turn on your broiler and position an oven rack roughly 6 inches from the heating element. While it heats, combine the mayonnaise, mustard, honey, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl, whisking them together. Add salt and pepper to taste, adjusting the cayenne for more heat if you like.
- Cover a rimmed baking sheet with aluminium foil. Sprinkle salt and pepper over the entire salmon fillet. Place the salmon on the sheet and use your hands to coat the top and sides with an even layer of the honey-mustard mixture.
- Broil the salmon until the top is browned and the internal temperature reaches 115 to 125°F (46 to 52°C) for medium-rare to medium, which will take 5 to 15 minutes. You may prop the oven door open slightly to stop the broiler from cycling. If the top browns too quickly before the centre is done, turn off the broiler, set the oven to 425°F (220°C), and finish cooking for 1 to 2 minutes longer.
- Move the cooked salmon to a serving platter or individual plates and enjoy immediately.
