10 Minute Smothered Chicken

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 (4 1/2 ounce) jar sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onion
  • 1/2 cup bacon bits

Method

  1. Flatten the chicken breast halves until they are 1/4 inch thick, then season them with garlic powder and salt.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet and cook the chicken for 4 minutes before turning it over.
  3. Add the drained mushrooms, shredded cheese, chopped green onion and bacon bits on top of the chicken, cover the skillet and cook for about 4 minutes, until the cheese has melted and the chicken juices run clear.
