10 Minute Chinese 5 Spice Tofu

Ingredients

  • 1 cup firm organic tofu
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seed oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese five spice powder
  • 2 teaspoons agave syrup
  • sesame seeds, for sprinkling over finished dish

Method

  1. Cut the firm tofu into slices roughly 1 inch thick and pat them dry with kitchen paper. Warm the olive oil in a frying pan, place the tofu in the pan and fry for about 10 minutes, turning until both sides are golden brown.
  2. Mix the sesame seed oil, soy sauce and Chinese five spice powder together in a bowl. Add the warm tofu to the bowl and toss to coat. Stir through the sesame seeds, then finish by drizzling the agave syrup over the tofu and scattering a few extra sesame seeds on top.
