One-Dish Taco Bake
This all-in-one dinner combines your favourite Mexican flavours in a single dish. A seasoned ground beef filling is layered over a cornmeal batter, then topped with salsa, shredded cheese and crunchy corn chips before baking. It's a convenient and satisfying meal that requires minimal cleanup, perfect for a busy weeknight. The recipe yields 6 to 8 servings and takes about 50 minutes from start to finish.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 (1.25 ounce) package taco seasoning
- Mazola Pure® Cooking Spray
- 0.75 cup all-purpose flour
- 0.5 cup masa corn flour OR corn meal
- 2 envelopes Fleischmann's® RapidRise Yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.75 cup very warm milk (120 degrees F to 130 degrees F)
- 3 tablespoons Mazola® Corn Oil
- 1 egg
- 1 cup chunky salsa
- 1 cup shredded Mexican-style cheese
- 1 cup corn chips, partially crushed
Method
- Cook the ground beef until browned, then drain the fat. Stir in the taco seasoning until fully combined.
- Combine the batter ingredients directly in a 9-1/2-inch deep dish pie plate that has been coated with cooking spray.
- Spread the seasoned taco meat over the batter layer. Evenly pour the salsa on top, then finish with a sprinkle of shredded cheese and the partially crushed corn chips.
- Place the dish into an oven that is not preheated. Set the oven temperature to 350 degrees F and bake for 30 minutes or until the bake is fully cooked.
